Questions About How To Download Youtube Videos To Mp3

John asks…

How can I download Youtube Videos to my mp3 player with downloading any software?

How can I download Youtube Videos to my mp3 player with downloading any software? I have tried other sites listed in answers and couldn't get the formats I desired. Thanks for the great help.

admin answers:

Ok, you do need a software but its kind of like a program. Its called RealPlayer. Its asks for credit card registration but if you keep looking there is a download without credit card necessary. Oc=once you downloaded it you'll be able to download any video from any site, when you watch a video and point a it a little tag at the top right will appear saying ((download to real player.) you click it and then it downloads. Now depending in what for mat do you want it you need to convert it. I need MP4 for my mp3 so i go to this site mediaconvert.com its really easy to use and a fast way to do it.with 5 steps
1-go to the website, there will be a box asking for the file (click browse and select it.)
2then it recognices the file by it self (it should be a FLASH VIDEO)
3then you click on the bottom the format you want it to be. Do NOT choose a premade format like (i pod, I touch, cellphone format))they don't work
3choose MP$ from the long list
4click agree to terms
5and click convert then you have to save it to desktop and pull it into your mp3s folder.
I KNOW THIS WAS LONG BUT I KNOW IT WORKS

admin answers:

Take a look at best4video suite - with its help you'll do it easily. Use web ripper to download video, and then video to mp3 converter to convert it. You don't need to pay for the programs separately - you'll get the whole suite for one price. And you can try it for free. I've been using it for several month with no problems.

How do you download youtube videos to your mp3?

I need to know how to download youtube videos onto my new mp3.
everything I've found so far is only for ipods and I don't have an "ipod"
please help
thanks

admin answers:

I copy youtube video url at http://www.savetube.com/ to get video on computer.

And then convert youtube video for computer and playbacks with Daniusoft Video Converter, which can convert video files including FLV video to various formats to meet different format requirements and for playback on most popular players.

It supports customizevideo formats, allows you select the very section of the movie that you want it to be converted, and you can merge more video clips together into one single file, the Converter will auto-shutdown your computer when the conversion is finished with multi-thread conversion.
The most important, it converts video without any damage to the video.

You can know more video edit function at http://www.convert-video-dvd.com/video-converter.html#115

Hope can help you :)

William asks…

How to edit my documents which are in a pdf format with Adobe Acrobat Pro 9?

Hi there,
I have a document of about 50 pages, which I have individually scanned on to my computer and have combined to form one pdf file. This is fine, however, some pages are not straight, is there any way that Adobe Acrobat Pro has an editing program that can straighten all my pages?
Also there is a line at the bottom of most pages where it has scanned, is there any way of removing this line?
Any suggestions will be hugely appreciated.
With kindest regards,
Jamie

admin answers:

You can select "Advanced->PDF Optimizer...->Scanned Pages", then enabled "Optimize compression of page regions based on color content", in "Filters" choose "Deskew->Automatic".
To remove the line you can click "Document->Crop pages..." then define the crop area as you wanted.
Or if you need some future functions on optimizing PDF files or Scanned papers, you can consider using A-PDF Scan Optimizer and A-PDF Page Crop. Get more information in below link:

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro and am about to convert a Word document into a PDF. It is quite a lenghty document and I am keen to avoid people copying it, therefore I want to lock it from people highlighting, copying and then pasting in my text to their own documents.

Thanks

Questions About How To Hate Lil Wayne Lyrics Video

Maria asks…

Let's have a debate dammit!?

Alright, I just watched this video (courtesy of 54) on how Lil Wayne fans never back up there argument on why he's the best. I know a lot of people in this section hate Wayne, I know a lot love him. The only time this section really comes alive is when were arguing about something. So, we should argue. I want legit reasons as to why he's bad or why he's good (lyrics, videos, etc.). It's time to settle this. So, do you think Lil Wayne is a good rapper or a bad rapper?
@aywakida, I'm beginning to believe the rumors that your retarded. You just told me some facts about his life along with you saying he's good, you gave no proof that he's good.
@Chronic & Tyler, Lol
@Aywakida, you only gave me facts like he sold a lot of albums or he won a Grammy or Obama encouraged kids to stay in school by using him as an example. None of this proves that he has talent, these are big achievements but doesn't prove talent. Btw, who said I hated Wayne? I actually like him.
@Aywakida, it means he's popular not good. Award shows are a popularity contests.
@Aywakida, I'm done arguing with ya. There is no way I can get my point across to you so there's no point trying.

admin answers:

Shown flashes of being good but he puts out way too many songs n it waters anything he does down. He needs to start writing cuz he has become really sloppy. Once he found success with auto tune that was the death of him rapping wise

Laura asks…

How come some people would think that you're gay if you say you listen to a justin bieber song ?

It is getting ridicolous when someone calls or says that you are gay when you listen to a Justin Bieber song. There are only 2 songs that I like from Justin Bieber but his newest song Baby, It is really cool. I'm a 19 year old guy and I hate corrupt music like Rap and Hip Hop music by artists like Eminem , Lil Wayne, Rihanna, Soulja Boy and Beyonce. If you pay attention to Eminem's and Soulja Boy's Lyrics in the song, It is just plain out nasty and disgusting and It is about sex. Eminem and Soulja Boy and Lil Wayne thinks that they can't be popular without putting sex into their lyrics. People also say that Justin Bieber is Gay or Bisexual means that your also Gay or Bi If you listen to his music, It is completely outrageous. I don't believe that Justin Bieber is gay or bisexual because he doesn't look like it and If he was gay then why did a girl played his love interest in his music video Baby ? I'm straight and I think Justin Bieber is a better musician because his music is clean and appropriate. Some people call me gay because I prefer Justin's Music over Eminem or Soulja Boy. How come people think you're gay if you listen to Justin bieber ? Can anyone please explain to me why people think that ?

admin answers:

I'd prefer Justin Bieber over Soulja Boy any day, maybe not Eminem though I'm not a fan of either of them. They're just stereotyping people who likes a boy with a girlish voice singing rather then people like Soulja Boy. Don't listen to their bull****, we all have opinions. As long as you know you're not gay, don't let it get to you. Call them sexists, anyone can like Justin's songs.

Linda asks…

Wack Rappers Excuses?

1)This ain't the 80s no more, all that stuff is old. No body does that anymore. Ok this excuse has been used by too many groupies and fans of these artist. Skill is skill taking the time to improve as an emcee and connecting with the people is a must in hip hop no matter what age you are if you want to use that then why is it that people still bang micheal's old stuff even in this day and age its not because its just old but that he made good music the same with rakim, krs, 2pac, biggie, outkast, or any dope emcee then and now has done.

2)everyone doesnt have to have good lyrics. The most stupid thing I have ever heard people say. so your saying that you just listen to anything that seems pleasing to others. the artist should always atempt to differenciate themselfs and improve their writting. Its like its said before if your message aint shit then fuck the records you sold if you go platnum its got nothing to do with luck it just means a million people are stupid as fuck. maybe some of these wack rappers need to think about this

3)its all about the beat. again and again you hear the same thing that its all about the beat though it is important to have a good production it wont sound right if what is said dont sound right. would you still listen to a gucci song without a beat to it and it would still sound good.

4)im just the ghetto reporter. im the ghetto reporter. they say this same thing to get people out of their case. they say they just telling what goes on in the hood when they actually dont really even connect anymore to their neighborhood if they at all lived in the hood. they could really care less for their supporters

5)calling someone a hater. this is the most overused word that i have heard used. just like love i wonder if people even know the meaning sometimes. just because we decide to give our opinion that we dont think you got tight rhymes doesnt mean we hate on your cash flow we just want to hear more variaty. if you think that skill equals cash then you need to reevaulate the meaning of an emcee

6)thinking that you're dope just because you have Lil Wayne-esque punchlines. just because you can do a couple of punchlines like lil wayne(overrated in my opinion) doesnt mean you are one of the top best out. find your own style to use instead

7)"Homie, let the public decide." That doesn't mean the public of dope hiphop, but the public that determines sales so its more so on popularity and not in their skills.

8)That's dope but... my fans wouldn't understand it". That refers to how rappers think they have to make the same types of songs with the same subject throughout their career. If they started as a gangsta rapper, then they'll always be a gangsta rapper, even if they don't live that life

9)This is what they want." Sort of an excuse that allows them to make songs to sellout and not be individuals and follow what they are told to put out.

10)How are you going to tell me what's dope? You don't even listen to the radio. ((That's for those folks who seriously believe that the Billboard charts and Grammys showcase the greatest of hip-hop))
these guys couldnt even tell you the simple things about hip hop i saw a video of oj da juiceman taking a hip hop quiz and couldnt even get simple stuff that even lil wayne would have at least got. pop charts dont make you dope neither do grammys its what you put into your work rakim or lupe probably would not get many grammys but at least you know they put quality in everywork they do.

so these are ten more excuses that are made by wack rappers. they are given no critic as long as they are getting paid but whats wrong with wanting artist to improve their craft there is no hate for making money but as said by WEB du bois a society built on making money makers will not make men but through education can they be liberated. so this is my thought please comment and give your thoughts
im just looking at some of these answers i dont see how these dudes think im a hater i just came to state my thoughts. im just stating what i feel needs to be said im sorry if this affends you (not). what happened to stating a thought but thats why and whats with all the childish insults and talk about the damn topic
my just seen yours duff and i see your point that most wont comprehend that sadly smh but that is the state of things today

admin answers:

You seriously sound like an epic Hater. LOL. I agree to an extent, but honestly the people who support BAD music are too dumb to even comprehend this. Actually, I'll bet my balls that they can't even read past a 4th grade level.

I'm not even going to read what the hell you wrote there... I'm gay and I've never listened to a justin bieber song... I nearly made it half way through just now and had to turn it off because it was so god damn awful. It's not gay, it's just pathetically overrated and stupid. I wish him luck and hope he's successful, but he'll never be getting any money out of me.

Questions About How To Cook Pumpkin Seeds

Sandra asks…

Simple way to cook pumpkin seeds?

i was told that a goodway to cook pumpkin seeds is to clean them off, but not completely so the flavor remains. i was told to put a little olive oil on them on a cookie sheet with salt. how long do i roast them for and is that a good way to make them? my friend is having a halloween party and i want to make a lot of them for it. thankss.
also, what temp do i put them in the oven at? thanks

admin answers:

Place them on a cookie sheet and sprinkle with some seasoning if you like then put in the oven for about 10 minutes. Watch carefully so they don't burn.

You may want to check out www.recipezaar.com for recipes. It's free.

Lisa asks…

How long do i cook pumpkin seeds?

I making pumpkin seeds i want to make them taste really good what do i use?

admin answers:

This is what I use every year I roast my pumpkin seeds. If you don't want to use salt you can sprinkle on Greek Seasoning unsalted. You can buy it at Walmart. It's in the spice isle. So much nicer without all the salt.
Ok, Rinse all the gooky stuff off the seeds and pat them dry. Spread on a cookie sheet that has been coated with cooking spray or oil, sprinkle with salt (optional, can substitute Greek Seasoning), and bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes, tossing about half way through.

James asks…

How do I cook pumpkin seeds?

We just carved pumpkins and we have the seeds and they're already dry and ready to cook, but I don't know how to cook them....any suggestions?

admin answers:

Separate the seeds of a freshly carved pumpkin from the stringy membrane. Rinse the seeds just until they are free of any membrane matter.

Step 2Heat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 3Put the seeds on a paper towel and let them dry for a few minutes.

Step 4Spray a baking sheet with butter-flavored nonstick cooking spray or brush with a light coating of vegetable oil. Put the seeds on the baking sheet in a single layer, turning to coat lightly with the spray or the oil. Sprinkle the seeds lightly with salt, if desired.

Step 5Put the baking sheet in the oven. Cook the seeds for 10 to 20 minutes, or until brown and slightly crisp, turning once. Allow to cool before eating.

Step 6Store seeds in an airtight container.

Donald asks…

How long do I cook pumpkin seeds?

we just carved pumpkins and gutted them but i don`t know how long to cook the seeds

admin answers:

This is a recipe I used before:
* Pumpkin seeds
* Cooking spray, olive oil, or butter
* Optional: Salt, garlic powder, onion powder, seasoned salt, or other seasoning of choice

Preparation:
Rinse pumpkin seeds. Use your fingers to remove all the pulp. Drain pumpkin seeds and discard pulp. Spread out on a cookie sheet to dry overnight.

Preheat oven to 250 F. Line a baking sheet with non-stick foil.

Toss pumpkin seeds in olive oil, butter, or spray with cooking spray. Sprinkle with salt, garlic powder, onion powder, seasoned salt, cayenne pepper, or your choice of seasonings. Toss to coat.

Bake about 1 hour, tossing every 15 to 20 minutes, until golden brown.

Cool pumpkin seeds before eating. Store in an airtight container at room temperature up to 3 months or refrigerate up to 1 year.

Questions About How To Juggle 4 Balls

William asks…

How do you juggle 4 balls?

I know this is a very obvious invitation to a ball joke. But i hope someone can tell me because juggling with three is getting boring.

admin answers:

Well u need 2 naked guys or 1 naked guy and lady gaga and use both hands and ull be okay

Daniel asks…

How do you learn to juggle with 4 balls?

I've tried juggling with 2 in one hand, than in the other hand, than both hands. But the balls keep bumping into each other. Is there a trick?

admin answers:

You can't juggle with four balls.. The only thing you can do with four balls is have two in each hand and throw them both up in the air at the same time and then throw the others up and same hand, like a fountain.

You can only juggle with odd numbers such as 3 balls, 5 balls and 7 balls. To do 5 balls do it as if you would with 3 balls but instead of always having one ball up in the air at a time, you have 2. This video should explain it, good luck, it takes a lot of patients..

Betty asks…

how do I manage to juggle 4 balls in a circular patern?

admin answers:

Throw first ball in air catch with other hand .... Throw second ball in air catch with other hand ... Repeat till circular pattern is visible!!

Susan asks…

Tips for juggling 4 balls?

I want to get a better idea of how to juggle 4 balls.I already know how to juggle 4 balls with 2 in each hand where the balls never switch hands,so please no tips or links on that. That way is to easy to learn so I want to learn how to juggle 4 balls with the balls going from one hand to the other like you would juggling 3 balls. So any advice or links to websites would be great.

admin answers:

There is a way to do this but it is strange and has a funny rithum. Lean to be ok at the five ball cascade. Like 20 catches or somthing. The to do 4ball cascade you strat with 3 in one hand and juggle as if you were dong the 5 ball but with only 4. When it's done it has a hickuplike thing where the 5th ball whould be thrown. This i belive to be the only way.

Helen asks…

Juggling tips needed?

Hello.
So I met this guy at the mall today, and boring story short, I need to learn how to juggle 4 balls in about a week.

What I would like are any tips, advice, helpful websites, words of wisdom, etc etc from people who can juggle. 10 points to the most helpful answer! :)
Thanks!

admin answers:

Start with tossing 2 simultaneously, then move up to 3 and once you get that pattern down, 4. For 3 I generally have better luck starting with the two in my non-dominant hand, and the one ball in my dominant hand. When you are first learning it also helps to face a wall and stand fairly close to help make sure your throws are perfectly straight up. When focusing so much on catching and timing it can be easier than you might think to toss a ball too far forward and once that happens it's over.

Questions About How To Gain Weight During Pregnancy

George asks…

how much weight did u gain during pregnancy?

this might sound stupid, but why do women gain weight during pregnancy? i understand when the baby starts to get big but why in the 1st and the beginning of second trimester if the baby is so tiny? Am 16 weeks and i already gained 5 lbs! am having little red stretch marks on my arms and leg. the thing is am not even eating like i used to too! so where is the weight coming from? how much weight did u put on during pregnancy? and was the weight all over ur body or in certain places?
thanx in advanced!

admin answers:

Hey hun! We gain weight because our metabolism slows down A LOT... It takes longer to break our foods down, therefore its in our system longer and we gain weight. Thats why its important to not over eat, or eat as healthy as you can, when you can... Some girls just go nuts and eat whatever they want, thats why they gain 50-60 pounds, and thats really way to much... I've gained over 20 so far and it blows my mind because my diet didnt start changing until a few weeks ago! Now I'm hungry all the time, but I still try and manage it to the best of my ability!

Also, even though the baby only weight a few pounds, we have to add the extra weight from amniotic fluid and other water weight.. Which is quickly drop after giving birth, and your just left with the extra fat that we'll need to diet to get off

Richard asks…

How to not gain weight during pregnancy?

Any suggestions as to how to not gain a lot of weight during pregnancy? With my previous pregnancy, I gained around 40 pounds, even though I couldn't keep anything down for the whole nine months. I was able to loose it all after my daughter was born, but it took about a year. I dont' want that to happen again with this one. I did walk and excercise daily too. Any other suggestions as to how to not gain excessive weight (over 15 or 20 pounds) during pregnancy? Thanks in advance!

admin answers:

Eat healthy and exercise and hope for the best.

Drink plenty of water so you don't retain water

avoid salt so you don't retain water

Laura asks…

Weight gain during pregnancy?? How much are you up?

I am miserable right now. I am 27 weeks and have already put on like 30lbs. I try not to eat much junk but it's hard being in a house with my boyfriend who is trying to gain weight lol. I really don't want to gain anymore weight during this pregnancy but I know that is unrealistic. What have you ladies gained and how are you dealing with it?
My doctor always says something about my weight at first it was not enough now its to much. Soooo frustrating I would love to walk but I live in MI and its been so cold here since I have been pregnant. I do have a treadmill so I am going to give that a try

admin answers:

I am only 12 weeks but i have not gained a pound! When i found out i was prego i weighed 146 and then i lost 10 pounds due to stress from losing a family member. I went at 10 weeks for the ultrasound and i weghed 141. Today i weigh 143 so technically i lost 3 pounds. I am scared i will blow up like a balloon so i eat really healthy foods and stay away from sweet cravings. I consume around 1800 calories a day and so hopefully i only gain 25 pounds total!I live in grand rapids MI, are you close to there??hang in there whether you gain more or not it will all come off after the pregnancy you just have to work at it.my bf eats so much junk and it is hard because i want to eat it too but i keep lots of healthy snacks and popsicles in the house which make the temptation not as hard. Fruits are sweet and good for you try some of that!

Susan asks…

Do you HAVE to gain weight during pregnancy?

I just read an article that says a woman should gain 25-25 pounds during pregnancy to keep the baby healthy. Do I really need to do that when I have kids? I've seen women stay skinny when they're pregnant. I'm wondering how necessary it is for the baby's health, and whether or not the baby can still be healthy without the mother having to gain so much weight.
25-35*** sorry typo!

admin answers:

You should definitely gain some weight unless you are already obese. You are not just growing a baby who will weigh 6-10 pounds, your body also needs to construct a placenta (which will weigh a couple of pounds at least), your uterus grows very large - it is the largest muscle in the body when fully pregnant and it has substance ie more weight, the amniotic fluid is a couple of litres, and your own blood volume increases by one third to support the pregnancy. So you can gain weight during pregnancy without adding anything lasting to your body. Within a few days of delivery you will have lost a lot of weight. A little store of fat will help shore up early breastfeeding, when I was by far hungrier than when pregnant.

Besides all that, this is your child's future - their whole life will be impacted by your pregnancy nutritional status so focus on giving your baby a great start by eating smart

Chris asks…

How much weight should my sister gain during pregnancy?

She weighs 143lbs and is 5'5 feet tall. (she is not preggers yet but is trying)
She doesn't want to gain to much, she is planning on (if she can) only gain 15-20 lbs.
Also how hard is it to watch our weight during pregnancy?

admin answers:

Well she is on the outer edge of normal weight or her height. Most doctors would recommend for her to gain about 25 pounds. But I am sure 15-20 pounds would be fine as well.

Different woman have different experiences with pregnancy and appetite. I never had a problem gaining too much weight. Actually it was tough for me to gain enough. But I had morning sickness all nine months with my girls.

But other woman struggle with gaining too much. Best advice is to not eat like you are eating for two. A pregnant woman only needs to eat extra food in the second and third trimesters. And even then only around 200-300 calories extra are needed a day. So that equals about a glass of milk and a piece for fruit extras or the equivalent.

Questions About How To Divide Fractions On A Calculator

Betty asks…

How do you divide on the TI-Nspire calculator? Mine only calculates the lowest fractions?

For some reason, my TI-Nspire calculator only turns a division problem I put in into a reduced fraction. For example, if i put down 8/24, it comes out as 1/3!! Is there any way I can divide on the TI-Nspire calculator? Can you guys show me the steps in order to do it on the scratchpad?

NOTE: Mine is the generation with the Touch pad

admin answers:

To force a decimal result press ctrl + enter instead of just enter.

Paul asks…

how do you show a fraction on a calculator?

on the calculator how do you show a fraction, because i need to divide a fraction by a fraction.

admin answers:

When you divide a fraction by a fraction, you would multiple the fraction by the reciprocal of the second fraction. You don't need to "show the fraction" on the calculator. Decimals are the same thing. However, if you have a TI-83, once you have the decimal form you can press the "math" button and select fraction and it will convert it for you.

Lisa asks…

I need help on fractions and percentages.?

I'm not so good at multiplying and dividing fractions and a few of these questions on my homework sheet are a little confusing. I won't be cheating by doing this because it's a PRE test and we are allowed to use calculators. Help me find the answers!

2/21 divided by 1/3 =
1/5 x 3/20 =
6/25 divided by negative 3/5=
1/9 x 3/4 =
Negative 2/21 divided by negative 2/15 =
2 1/2 x 2/15 =

What is 7.5% as a fraction?
24 is 60% of what number?
14/16 as a percentage?

What is a tree diagram?
How do you find the surface area of a prism?
What is an upper and lower quartile?

If you answer this, I will love you. HELP!

admin answers:

2/21 divided by 1/3 = 2/7
1/5 x 3/20 = 4/3
6/25 divided by negative 3/5= - 2/5
1/9 x 3/4 = 1/12
Negative 2/21 divided by negative 2/15 = -5/7
2 1/2 x 2/15 = 5/2 * 2/15 = 1/3

Mandy asks…

How do I write a fraction on my TI-84 Graphing Calculator?

I am having trouble making fractions on my TI-84 Graphing Calculator.

I can do everything and anything, but I cant do fractions.
Does anyone know how to write a fraction with one?

I know you can enter like

4/5

= .8

then hit the "Math" button, and hit Fraction to turn it into a fraction, but I want to be able to just type in the fraction without having to divide then turn it into one.

Thanks.

admin answers:

You can't really keep it a fraction. TI-84's only give decimals unless you do the whole, MATH-FRACTION thing. TI-89's do fractions. If you have a long equation to solve that has a fraction within it, put the fraction in parenthesis. Even so, they'll give you the answer in decimals. Then, i guess you can make it into a fraction.

Good luck.

Michael asks…

How do you divide numbers where the answer you want has to be in fraction?

Explain how would you divide numbers and get the answer as a fraction WITHOUT THE USE OF CALCULATOR. I know how to divide on a paper but I don't know how I turn the answer into a fraction.

admin answers:

Hi:

Your question is a bit confusing. You could mean a couple of different things.

First, you could mean like divide 100 by 3. This would be 100/3.

Second, you could mean a whole number and fraction (mixed number). We will use 100 divided by 3 again.

If you take 100 divided by 3, you know that 3 goes into 10, 3 t

3|100

3 goes into 10 3 times, with 1 left over, we drop the other 0. 3 goes into 10 3 times again
33
3| 100
-9
______
10
-9
______
1

It repeats, but we have a whole number of 33 and 1 left over. Right?

We keep the whole number 33
We put the left over part, the 1 in the numerator
We put the 3, the divisor in the denominator
We are left with the following mixed number:

33 1/3

Hope this helps. B:)

David asks…

Can you give me tips on how to draw a good horse for my painting?

I want to paint my Aunt a horse, it would mean alot to her. But the thing is, I'm not good at drawing horses. Help?

admin answers:

Get a picture of a horse . Make a grid on it , probly an inch for every block . Then you get a paper and make the exact same grid on that , with the same boxes and size , then you draw whatever is in the same box as it is on the picture , itspretty easy , or just keep practicing drawing a horse.

Daniel asks…

how to draw a horse???????

hi, i love to draw horses, but i am having some trouble. i draw very good heads from the side but not as well with the horses whole face lookig straight on. i also am having trouble with the body. my legs are ok, but they need some work. i would like to draw the legs from the side and straight on. i also have trouble with the neck and back. if anyone has good websites i would really apreciate it. also i don't want any little kid drawing websites either ( i passed that 20 years ago). any thing will be greatfull. thank you in advance.

admin answers:

The Outline Drawing
Transfer the line drawing to your paper. You can make your own transfer paper by coating a sheet of thin paper with graphite. Place the graphite side down on your drawing paper, put your line drawing on top and carefully transfer your lines by going over them with a sharp lead. Don't press too hard or you'll dent the paper. Just press hard enough to get a clear transferred line.

The First Fill Layer
Put some finely ground graphite (you can make your own with an emery board) on a scrap piece of paper. Dip a small brush into it, make some practice strokes, and then use it to fill in the horse's face.

Fill in his lips, face and ears. Don't try to darken any area to its full value yet. Instead, make this first layer a little lighter in all areas than what you see on the finished piece. Leave his blaze and eyes untouched for now.

If your brush marks look streaky, you can help smooth them out by going back over them at right angles using a scrubbing motion.

Fill in his mane and neck next. Be careful not to rub out all your guide lines when you are doing this fill layer. Fill his mane into about a 2 or 3 value for now. To create a 2 to 3 value with your bush, make sure its almost empty on a scrap piece of paper first. His neck is very dark so you can really scrub in the graphite there with the ends of your bristles. Start to notice where the shadows are falling on his neck and chest. The darker area goes all the way down to the bottom of his chest and it's at an angle.

Use a kneaded eraser to clean up any graphite that has gotten out of the lines.

Details - First Stage

Nostril Details
Create some ground graphite, dip a paper stump into it, and make a few practice strokes on a scrap piece of paper. Using the tip of the stump, work some of the darker details into the nostrils, lips and sides of the face. Notice that the lips get lighter towards the edge very gradually. The nostrils have both hard and soft edges you need to pay attention to. The insides of them, near his blaze, have a hard line and the outer edges softly lighten out to the edge. You can use a stump to pull the graphite out into the soft edges.

Notice that his bottom lip is visible on the right side and it's very dark. Use a 2h pencil to darken in that area. Again, don't darken anything in to its full value yet.

Face Between Eye and Nostrils
To darken the right side of his jaw, use a 4h lead to do a fill and your sharp stump tip to fill in missed spots. Use a brush to help you smooth if you want to.

Notice that I've stroked in some dark detail lines on the left jaw and darkened in the dark detail under his eyes also. Follow your detail lines to get these areas positioned right. Use a stump or a 4h lead to do this.

Ears
The ears are a very dark 81/2 to 9 value. Don't darken the ears in to their true 9 value right yet. Use a 2h and carefully fill in around the edges, highlights details, and mane hair. Don't press too hard with your lead. Smooth this all out with a stump but be careful not to lose the hair detail. Pull some graphite into the ear highlights with the stump.

Neck and Chest
Near his face, his neck is an 8 or 9 value and gets lighter to the left. Use a sharp 2h lead to darken his neck along his jaw line. Again, remember to use a gentle touch with your pencils. Leave the general area of his mane untouched for now but continue darkening his neck down into his chest. Your 2h lead with leave a streaky fill that you can smooth out with a brush if you haven't pressed to hard. You can also use a stump to help you smooth and it will also help darken the area a little more.

The muscles in the bottom of his neck are about a 5 or 6 value. Define the shadowed areas of the muscles first with a 4h lead first, so you won't lose them. Pull the graphite over into the lighter areas with a stump or brush to make a gradual transition. Use a 5h lead to darken if needed.

Use a kneaded eraser to clean up any smudges outside of the horse's outline.

Lips to Nostril Tops
His face details range from a 5 value to an 8 value. Darken the lip edges to their true value with a brush or stump tip. (Remember, you will always be adjusting your values as you work so don't feel bad if you have to do it several times during the drawing.) Darken the details under his nostrils in a more detailed way using a 4h or 5h lead. If you lose the highlights along the bottom edge of his nostrils, just erase them back out. Use a brush and a little ground graphite to darken the area between his nostrils.

Blaze and Cheeks

Darken the line inside his blaze along the left side. This line has a lot of hair texture in it so you can leave your fill a little rough. This broken line continues almost to the level of his eyes. Use a hard lead like a 7h to make the little shapes that make up this line.

Darken the right cheek up to his right eye using a 4h or 5h lead.

Darken his left cheek using the darkened detail lines as your guide lines.

Using 4h or 5h lead, start to darken the detail under his eyes. Be very careful to follow your detail lines.

Details - Third Stage

Eyes and Eyelids
Using a very sharp 2b, carefully outline the eyes. Use a sharp 4b to fill in the rest of the eye.

His eyelid creases are very dark. Use a 4h and a 2h to carefully darken the creases. His eyelids are a little complicated and there are creases on both top and bottom lids. Use your detail lines to help you place them correctly.

Here are some hints for handling area with small details like his eyelids:

Try using a stump to lighten a too dark area instead of an eraser.
Use your stump to make gentle transitions.
Save your highlights by drawing around them when you can.
If a detail seems to elude you in one area, come back to it later when you have a fresh eye for it.
Remember that you can always come back and add, subtract, or change detail.

Mane Forelock
Use a 2h to start filling in the dark streaks (10 values) in his forehead and neck mane. Don't be overly concerned with correct positioning, just try to get the shadows in the general areas they should be in.

A good way to get the hair shadows shaped well is to "turn off" seeing the hair and "turn on" seeing the shadows. It's a mental shift that takes some concentration but you can see that the shadows do have a rhythm and pattern if you really look at them. Just get the general pattern of the shadows blocked in and you'll have the general lay of the hair right.

Use a 4h and to darken the next darkest shadows (9 & 8 values). Use a 5h to block in next darkest shadows (6 & 7 values). If the highlights of his mane (the strands you haven't touched yet) look too light, use a stump to darken them by softly stroking them into 3 to 5 values. Use your stump to darken the soft mane hair across the bottom of his ears, too. The hair at the bottom of his ears is soft looking, so blur the hard outline lines with the tip of your stump.

Mane on Neck
His neck is very dark and the bottom of his mane almost disappears into its shadows. To create that effect, fill in the entire area to a 6 or 7 value with a 2h lead. Then use a stick eraser that's been sharpened into a wedge shape to lift out the details of the hair. Try to lift of the hair strands in curves that follows the form of his neck. You can soften and refine this effect later.

Details - Fourth Stage

Nostrils and Tip of Nose Details

The inside of each nostril is a 10 value that softly merges into the edges. The edges of his nostrils are light and get even lighter near their outsides. Use a B or 2b lead to darken the entire 10 value area of each nostril, then use the tip of a stump to gradually soften and blend that dark value out into the nostril edges.

The wrinkles on his nose between his nostrils are very soft and undulating. To create the wrinkles, tap the highlight areas with a kneaded eraser pinched into a point until they lighten. If they become too light or are shaped wrong, correct them with a 4h or 5h pencil using little hatching or tapping motions.

Blaze Detail

Use a 4h or 5h lead to draw dark, sharp details into the white blaze area's edges. Use a stick eraser that you've cut into a wedge shape to erase white details out into the dark areas on both sides of the blaze. Both the light and dark zigzag details are sharp and jagged looking. Use a 4h lead to reshape them if you need to.

Details - Final Stage

Mane Forelock and Ears
Notice that most of the strands of hair in his forelock have soft edges. The guide lines you drew are probably sharp or crisp looking so you may need to blend and soften them. You can do that by gently tapping them with a kneaded eraser that's been pinched into a point or by rubbing them with the point of a stump until they blur slightly.

If the highlights of the hair strands are too light, go over them lightly with the tip of a stump until they darken to the right value.

To make the hair strands more realistic looking, use a 6h or 7h lead to thin some of them. To help keep the edges soft and varied looking, thin them by many small hatches along each edge instead of a long solid line along the entire strand.

Use a stick eraser that you've cut into a wedge shape to lift out light valued strands and to touch up any highlights that need it. You can use a stick eraser to gently lift out fuzzy hair detail in dark areas, too, like at the bottom of the ears.

His ears are an extremely dark 9 value but they do have some highlight detail. Fill the ears in with a 2h around their edges and a 2b on their interiors. Use a stump to pull graphite over into the highlight areas then use a 4h to even out and darken the highlight areas even more. The highlight areas are very dark and soft around the edges so blend carefully and use a kneaded eraser to lift out graphite if they become too dark.

Mane, Neck, and Chest Area
His neck area, next to his left cheek, is 9 or 9 1/2 value. Use a B or 2b to darken in that part of his neck. Continue filling in those dark values up into his mane hair. There are some muscles at the bottom of his neck that you can help define by using a kneaded eraser to gently lift some graphite over their tops.

The hair strands low on his neck almost completely blend into the shadows of his neck. Notice that the shadows under his mane, low on his neck, are 9 and 10 values, but the shadows near the top of his neck mane are 7 and 8 values. That's because the sun is above and behind him and the light washes over his body from behind and over the top. You can see this pattern in all the shadows and highlights of his mane. Both shadows and highlights are lighter near the top of his neck than near his chest.

You can use a stump to help darken in highlights in a gentle way if they are too light. Use your sharpened stick eraser to bring back out highlights that need lighted again and to help create hair strands. Work back and forth with your eraser and stump until the highlight and shadow patterns seem right.

Use your stick eraser to lift out the mane strands on his neck. If the strands look too large or aren't shaped right, use a hard lead to redefine them. Finally, use your 6h or 5h to help create delicate thin hair detail all over his mane. You don't have to draw each hair, just a few will be enough to make it look like hair.

Finishing
To make the portrait look more finished, make the left side line of the horse's chest smoother as I did here. You'll probably need to clean up the paper around your portrait, too. You can use you're stick eraser to do that but be careful not to erase any hair detail.

Maria asks…

How do you draw a horse?

I know how to draw a horse pretty well but I want to get better. Does anybody know any horse drawing websites for me to learn off of.

admin answers:

No, sorry!

Lisa asks…

Any tips on how to draw horses from a picture?

I already know practice makes perfect, and I'm working hard at that right now. I have this big book of photographs of horses right now, and I draw from that. I'm okay at drawing realistic horses but I want to get better. Any rubbing or different mediums of supplies would really be helpful. (Right now I only use a number 2 pencil and colored pencils.)

Questions About How To Eat Healthy On A Budget

John asks…

How do you eat healthy on a budget?

Me, my husband, and my 19 month old son have to eat on a budget of about $50 a week(on a month when no financial problems arise). What things should I buy to make sure we are eating as healthy as possible within our price range? We don't qualify for food stamps, and I really worry about our health. Also, my son doesn't like milk. What else can I give him for calcium? Does chocolate syrup make his milk unhealthy?

admin answers:

If you have a little bit of a back or front yard, you could try growing your own vegetables. Or get in with a group of people and start a community vegetable garden so that you can all share the vegetables and herbs. There would probably be some land that someone is willing to lend you to do this and its great for the kids too, they get a real kick out of it and will eagerly eat what they have helped grow. Good Luck.

Carol asks…

How can I eat healthy on a Budget?

I'm 17 and I weigh 315lbs. I've been eating healthy since February I just didn't put any exercise with it. Only Cleaning the house. Walking with my family around the park. I've lost about 15lbs so far. But, my parents are teaching me the value of a dollar because I'm always spending money on clothes and shoes left and right. And I need to controll my spending

Well, my parents are giving me $25-$50 every two weeks for food. They know I want to eat healthy/exercise to lose weight. How can I eat healthy and lose weight on a budget? Can anyone give me a sample menu? I eat a lot of Canned Tuna, Baked Chicken Breast, Sandwiches, Steamed Veggies and Fresh Fruit. Is that enough? Is that good enough? If I indoor walk for an hour a day starting tomorrow, will I lose any weight before Aug. 21st?

Thanks
Indoor Walking(and sometimes outdoor walking) is the only thing I can do at this point. Is it a good form of exercise?

I applaud you for taking on this challenge. Your parents are teaching you a good lesson, but it is hard to not buy the cheap Debbies vs the Weight Watchers when we all know they are always $2 or $3 more!

2-week shopping list- I shop at walmart super center too

Margarine .75
Skim milk $4
Eggs (12) $1.50
Low fat cream cheese $1.50
Wheat bagels (5) $1.00
LF Pretzels $1.00
Apple Juice $2.00
LF Dressing $2.50
LF Mayo $2.00
Wheat bread $2.00
Sandwich turkey $1.00
Frosted flakes $3.00
6 cans tuna in water $3.00
2 packs Chicken breasts $11.00, 4 in ea. Package
rice 2.00
ramen noodles-8 $1.00
Lettuce $1.25
Bananas $2.00
Apples $2.50
cucumber .50
bell pepper .50
3 tomatoes $2.00
Onion $1.00

This is the best I could do with $50. I got $47 used here. Just stay active. WALK. My friend weighed 270 and has lost 125 pounds by walking 4 miles every day, 1 mile to her kids' school and 1 mile back twice daily. Once she got into the habit, she got more energy back and was able to do more exercising. Go swimming, drink lots of water, get into some sports. Yes, you will lose weight. You won't lose all that you want to. Just be realistic. If you lose 3 pounds in one week, don't be upset that you still weigh 312 pounds. Take it one day at a time. You can lose all that you want to if you are dedicated.

George asks…

How can I eat healthy on a budget?

Half the reason I splurge is because it's just too expensive to eat healthy. Fatty foods are so cheap and I can eat for $5 a day easily. Eating healthy costs me almost triple that. Fat-free cheese is so much more expensive than regular, as are other reduced-fat foods. It's not fair. It's too expensive to be healthy!

admin answers:

Well, why not just not eat cheese at all?

This particular tip I'm about to give will ONLY work well if you're using the fruit for smoothies (or baking, but baked goods aren't healthy so I wouldn't recommend it). Fruit that is a little overripe/unnattractive is usually on sale. Buy that, dole it up into smoothie sized servings (in ziploc baggies) and toss them in the freezer. I also add vegetables (also easy to find on sale) to these smoothies too. All fruit and vegetables, cheap and easy!

Another cheap tip, things like yohgurt or cottage cheese (which you can replace real cheese with) is often on sale if you buy it 1-2 days before it's sell-by date. Activia gets marked down a dollar 4 days before it's sell by date (and there's only 4 in a package). Score! =)

Also, since fast food is cheap, Taco Bell now has the Fresco menu which is pretty good for you, delicious and cheap!

Make healthy dishes in bulk (vegetarian chili) and freeze them, then just heat them up when you're ready!

How can we eat healthy on a budget?

My husband and I have 4 children who live with us (ages 11-3) and he has 2 others (13 and 9). How can we afford to eat healthier and still maintain a low budget? Any recipes and ideas welcome.

Stick with whole foods. You have to cook but it can be done. Rice, dried beans, potatoes, pasta are usually cheap. I love love love my rotisserie and cook a turkey every month or two and make soup with the bones & chicken salad with some of the meat & freeze most. Cubed cooked turkey, eggs mixed in with a little broccoli and cheese cubes nuked for couple minutes is almost an instant meal.

I try not to buy anything over .50 a pound when I'm watching pennies. Most stores sell 10# of chicken leg quarters for $4-$5 (less than .50#) and well worth it for the bones alone. Do not waste the bones & fat, render the fat & use for cooking, chop up fat chunks left over after rendering and add to soups & sauces with some of the meat. Don't eat the meat alone, add it to sauces and soups to stretch it. You can use the bones 3-4x to make bone stock (add vinegar and simmer a couple of days) Do not include meat in the long simmering. I add my old bones to my new bones and store in freezer. Use the stock to make soups and add to everything for more nutrition. Buy cheapest per pound of rice, dried beans, bag potatoes, pasta, tomato paste, salt & 10# chicken leg quarters. (you could render chicken fat and use on potatoes instead of buying butter or margarine and use in cooking instead of buying oil) Usually (not always) you can get twice as much for very little more money. Consider quantity for $ versus cheapest unit price.

Eggs are sometimes cheap. Buy lots if they are less than $1 dozen (wash egg shells with vinegar and add to bone stock for more calcium) Store brand processed cheese is usually half cost of hard cheese (this may be a luxury item at this point). Buy the huge (gallon or more) plastic container of mayo, it may be a lot to invest at one time but it's half cost of smaller bottles. Use instead of buying salad dressing. You can make egg salad or chicken salad and stretch it with lots mayo (added calories) mix with thinly shredded cabbage & carrots for more body.

Fresh cabbage is about the cheapest most versatile veg. Carrots are usually cheap and nutritious also. Canned collard, turnip and mustard greens are all highly nutritious and fairly cheap & can be added to soups & sauces for added nutrition. Canned tomatoes, watch the per ounce prices, don't just grab. A little tomato paste will make a lot of tomato sauce or you could make catsup with it. Sometimes you can get huge gallons of pickles fairly cheap (couple bucks) Make sure you have apple cider vinegar on hand.

Sprouts are highly nutritious foods. You can NOT eat most beans raw, but you can cook them after they've sprouted. You CAN eat sprouted lentils raw. Beans & lentils are usually found cheap by the pound in most grocery stores.

You could also grow foods at home, in your yard or even just a planter.
