Questions About How To Draw A Rose Bud

Jenny asks…

how does this poem sound so far?

"Winter"
In the afternoon, there are merry sounds
Coming from the animals that are abound
There is much fluttering among the birds
Their chirping almost comes across as words
The spry shoots of the plants that rise
Seem to go upwards towards the skies
The roses draw life from the abundant land
Resulting in a vibrant color that is no longer bland
The twittering soon lessens, then rapidly grows
As the beginnings of a chilly wind blows
A distinct diminishing of the light
As the the sun sinks out of sight
The sky changes from yellow to red
Filling me with a sense of dread
Freezing air erupts all around
As the moonlight hits the ground
Once the remaining warmth is chased away
I hold my breath as the clouds turn gray
Numbing moisture is drifting in the air
Coating my arms that are bare
Frosting quickly, ice forms upon the ground
As blustery winds come forth to surround
Wafting above the dark mud
The coldness closes upon a flower bud
Picking them up, held close to me
They appear dead, as far as I can see
Brown stems, once green, hang slack
With petals that appear slightly black
Their frangrance seems no longer strong
The drooping petals are just wrong
With the dying flora comes the fear
That there will be no more beauty near
Along with the animals cries of pain
It feels as if our fate has been sealed, like a chain

admin answers:

My major problem with it is that it takes a really long time to come to any kind of perspective or viewpoint. The whole first part is generalities about nature; it's not until "I hold my breath" that it's clear this is a first-person narrative.

The other fairly major issue is that much of this is filler. I don't know why beginning poets insist on making everything rhyme, but you need to realize that rhyming is *hard*. If you're not careful, you end up with lines that fill out the rhyme scheme but don't really add anything to the poem.

Less importantly, you need to pay closer attention to your language. "Abound" is a verb, for example -- animals abound, but under no circumstances are they abound.

Linda asks…

How does this writing sound for my creative writing club? (It doesn't rhyme) It's called 'A life of roses'

Waking up with the light of the morning. I head outside, slowly approaching the garden. I look at the variety of colors around me: reds, blues, greens, browns... My gaze becomes transfixed on a single rose. Reaching down, I pluck it. As I hold it close, I see its petals are heavy with morning dew. It wets my hands, trickling down to soak my sleeve. As I examine it, a thought comes to mind. The rose is still a bud. Fresh, closed, but no longer able to grow. Those red petals look almost gloomy. If I had left the bud to grow, the result would have been magnificent. From that dark emptieness, a tumultuous surge of life would have occured. The abundance of soft petals would billow out in every direction, the rose releasing its scent, freely drawing in the light of the world. But I know that cannot happen, as I've pulled this flower out of its earth of nutrients. In this way, the rose might symbolize life. Within its glossy petals it contained the development of a precious life, ready
to burst forth in color and fragrance. Roses need nutrients to sustain growth, much like life. Its easy to have the necessities a rose needs, but they can also be reduced or taken away. Water evaporates under the warm sun. Dirt dries up to form rough, infertile mold. The sun can be concealed behind thick, whispy clouds. Roses can be denied the sustenance needed for living, much like people can be restricted of the necessities of life. Love, hope, confidence, happiness, pity, acceptance, generosity, calmness, bravery, forgiveness, satisfaction, friendship, admiration, desire, benevolence. All these things are needed but they can be changed into things that are the destruction of life. Hatred, disgust, cruelty, suspicion, disappointment, fear, agitation, anxiety, despair, distress, depression, anger, revenge, sadness, frustration, jealousy, grief, greed, confusion, rejection, malice. These things are either constantly avoided or expressed; they cause death, of the soul and of the m

My MMSS (Major Movie Star Sister)?

Hi!

This is the first part of my story called My MMSS (Major Movie Star Sister). Please read the first part and give me opinions and suggestions. Please no rude comments, because I'm only twelve so I know it's just a dumb story. Please tell me if you want to hear the second part. Thanks!
~~~~
“So, why do you like your sister? What does she do that’s really nice and really kind?”
“Nothing.”
“Excuse me?”
“She doesn’t do anything nice and kind, and I don’t like her. She’s mean and cranky and never gives me her stuff. Ugly, too.”
“Oh, um – really?”
“Yup. I like my brother though. He’s nice.”
“Just a sec. Tell us more about your sister.”
“Okay! She always – ”
I groaned and switched off the television, throwing myself back into the soft, plum couch. My head was swirling. Stupid, stupid, stupid. The word kept repeating itself in my mind. Fume blew out of my ears and I’m positive my face was tomato-red. My eyebrows were permanently drawn up in angry crisscrosses.
I looked around our huge living room, wanting to calm down. I didn’t even notice the wooden floor-boards, the plasma television, the brown coffee-tables, the grand piano, and the Oriental rugs. But what I did notice was the huge framed picture above the glass cabinet of little ornaments.
In the picture was a smiling girl in front of a backdrop of the ocean. Her curly jet-black hair fell over her shoulders, and her big, deep, dark blue eyes could melt a heart. Dimples were in her cheeks and her petite, rose-bud nose fit in perfectly with the rest of her fair features.
That girl was my sister.
Starr Love Everheart.
You’ve probably heard of her, haven’t you? She is a huge child celebrity, even though she’s only eight. She’s been in about, what, seven movies? And she’s also recorded a few cute little kid songs and voiced two or three cartoons. Everyone loves her and thinks she’s so adorable, with her button nose and curly ringlets and all.
But, as you can tell, I’m just a bit jealous of her.
Okay, okay. I guess I’m more than a bit jealous.
I mean, my parents think that it’s so cute that Starr’s famous, but whenever I ask them with a pretty please if they could get me in the business, they go, “No way. You’re thirteen years old and need to focus on your studies. We’ll get Jade settled down in a few years, too.”
Now, my parents work in the movie industry, as producers for big-time movies, so they could get me in a movie if they wanted to.
Read back on the words: wanted to.
When Starr was born, they wanted to name her something extraordinary. Maybe they knew she was going to be famous. Starr Love. Her actual name is Starr Love.
My name is really ordinary: Abby.
Couldn’t they have named me Elidorah Daydream or something? It sounds way cooler then Abby Winters.
Mom and Dad changed Starr’s last name to Everheart, because Starr Love Winters didn’t sound ‘famous’. (How does Starr Love Winters not sound famous?) Everheart is my great-aunt’s last name.
So I ask them, what do I sound like? Chopped liver? They don’t bother changing my last name to Everheart, which, by the way, was given by me.
(I was lounging around one day, moping about how I loved the last name Everheart, and the next thing I knew, it was Starr Love Everheart and Abby Winters. Unfair? You got it, buddy.)
In case you’re wondering, Starr isn’t the youngest, thank goodness. Or she’d be even more spoilt. My brother, Ross, is five and he loves Starr. He does anything she says and sometimes the two pair up against me. Sometimes I think it would be better if Starr actually was the youngest and Ross was like, fifteen or something. Then we could pair up against her.
Well, that day, I happened to be flipping through the channels on our huge, plasma television. The rest of the family had gone to this interview for Starr, and I didn’t want to go.
I mean, it was like rubbing salt in my wounds! (I happen to want to be an actress or singer when I grow up and I am still wanting.)
So, I was watching TV and then I saw this blown-up picture of Starr, striking her ‘movie-star pose’ in our garden, which is one hand on her head, the other hand on her hip. She was flashing a charming smile, her hair windblown.
“Child star, Starr Love Everheart, does it again as she stars in a hit comedy!” A voice said as the picture dissolved. A tall, leggy woman with bright pink and blonde hair sat on a strawberry-red couch with my sister beside her. I recognized the lady as Olivia Sky, a famous talk show host known world-wide. It was live that moment, probably the interview Starr was at now.
So then Olivia and Starr had the conversation about me (listed above) and stupid Starr started saying all that stuff.
Even when I wasn’t there, Starr just had to make fun of me.
After I turned the television off and looked around, I could feel my cheeks burning. I pushed back strands of black hair.
Everyone in school would be teasing me the next day, since eve
Sorry that the top got cut off. I didn't know that it would :(
Everyone in school would be teasing me the next day, since everyone is hooked on Olivia Sky.
I go to a private school, the same one as Starr. It’s called Sunnyvale Schools and I’ve been going there before Starr was famous and before she was born, so I know everyone. It’s a small school, and everyone also knows my parents’ jobs, so it was no surprise to them when Starr turned into a celebrity. Of course, some new kids always gawk and stuff, but I try not to let it bother me.
Sometimes I enjoy it. I’ve given seven autographs, as the sister of Starr Love! Of course, I know Starr has given tons more. Hundreds, to people she hardly even knows. Older people.
Then I remembered Starr and her insults against me.
Stupid, stupid, stupid Starr.
I wished she was never born.
I wished I would never see her face again.
Famous last words.
“I’m ho-ome!”
Betty asks…
Ladies, tell me your dream wedding?
I'm not going to get married for years but like every other girl I have some ideas.
I know I want a dress that looks like a corset in the back and has lace rose buds in the veil. I want a rose bouquet. (Rose theme wedding, which I think you have caught on by now) I want a rose ice sculpture in the punch. I want a sculpted candle (I saw it on How It's Made and thought it was beautiful) I also want to be taken away in a horse drawn carriage.
That's all I've thought of so far. I wonder why ladies do this...think about their wedding so early.
BTW, this is girls only. I don't want anyone telling me I'm crazy and too young (19) to be thinking of marriage.
Please and thank you!
admin answers:
I would get married in the Spring. My flowers would be a mixture of light colored tulips, and it would definitely be an outdoor wedding. I would have violinists instead of a pianist. My dress wold be simple but elegant, and my hair would long and fixed hanging down one side in big curls, and inside the big curls would be more little Spring-colored tulips. :)
And you're not crazy! I think about marriage just about every day, and I'm 18! :)
Chris asks…
Hi! Can you read my essay? And grade it? Like A, B, C?
The Best Era of Life
Life is a like a rose. We start as a seed in the ground, infancy, grow to be a sprouting bud, childhood, grow the sharp thorns,
adolescence, and finally grow to be a beautiful rose, adulthood. As life goes on we fade to a shriveling blossom, which is old age.
Childhood is the best era of one’s life. It is filled with unconditional love from parents; the imagination and creativity that adolesences often lose, and
the sweet innocence. Childhood is the era in life that makes each person their own and is the era to remember forever.
Love is a beautiful thing, b ut the love children get from their parents is extraordinary. A parent's love is the strongest type of love there is. Children go through childhood with two different types from their parents. The first kind is the love that supports children's dreams. Children have the upmost support from their parents to pursue their dreams, even if that includes driving across the city to gymnastics or soccer practice. Children have that love that sometimes is lost when one reaches adolesences and dreams often fade without the help of parents. A parent's love to support their child's dream is one of the best things in childhood. The second kind of love is the unconditional kind. Parents love their child more than anything in the universe: money, jewels, jobs, and even life itself. They would give up life for their child. A Chinese proverb says " To understand a parent's love one must raise children themselves." It is true and that love belongs to the child. The two types of childhood love are wonderful and only a child really knows what that love is all about. Imagination and creativity are also two factors in childhood that make childhood the most wonderful era of life.
Imagination and creativity are two ingrediants that make childhood the best era. Creativity and imagination are alive with the child. When a child gets a hold of a drawing untensil anything is possible. Their drawings make the most creative masterpeices look dull. The imagination and creativity doesnt end with that. Games about being20magical creatures, sailing boats across the sea, casting spells, and having magnificent tea parties are just an ounce of what a child's mind can do. Elizabeth Lawerence once said "There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colors are brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever again." Childhood can only possess that garden and it is everything that Elizabeth Lawerence said. Imagination and creativity are the founders of that garden. Imagination and creativity are a children's partner in childhood. Sweet innocence is another thing that is found in childhood.
In childhood, children have the sweet innocence that adolesences wish they never lost. A child's innocence makes them see the world in a better light; a world without war or poverty. Their innocence makes them not know the problems of the world or the worries of a parent. When a child looks at a person they find their perfections, not their flaws. It is something that adolesences and adults dont have anymore. They look at someone and all they see is their flaws. The quote by Sheryl Crow states that "being around children that small, one sees how they naturally gravitate to light. They are not cynical yet." Sheryl Crow is right. They are not cynical yet. The innocence of childhood seems to forbid that. Children see the world through better eyes. The innocence of a child is the best thing about childhood.
Childhood is the most incredible era. Children are loved by their parents, are20creative and imagintive, and incredibly innocent. Childhood is the most important era because it gives them confidence to succed and ideas to make them flourish. "Only in childhood do we ever have the chance of making dreams come true when they mean everything,"- Unknown. That is true. Only in childhood can one make dreams come true.
Questions About How To Draw A Rose Tattoo
Jenny asks…
Will someone draw me my tattoo?
I suck at drawing. I can hardly draw a star correctly lol!
But I'd really like my tattoo drawn out before I go in.
I know I can get it drawn by an artist at the tattoo shop but I don't want to yet, so If you're going to say that then don't bother answering. It could be black and white or colored in as the colors I'm going to list.
I'll get you the best answer points or whatever if you want.
If you will give me your email and i'll email you mine.
What i want is a chest piece, i'm a girl BTW.
And I want a realistic looking heart as the center piece in bright reds and blues,
a rose on either side connecting to it, not sure of what color there, and a scroll going through the middle with the cursive words "Lay your Heart Down" going through it words in black and scroll in a tan color.
Thank you so much if you will, you have no idea how much i'd appreciate it!
admin answers:
I could. I have drawn numerous other tattoos. My email is treydudeman@gmail.com! And to that other guy I will do this for free. I got a lot of time on my hands. Haha.
Chris asks…
how come when i ask a question about getting a ROSE tattoo. everyone comments on how i will?
regret it cause "everyone has them" who cares if they are a common tattoo! so are butterflies and any other flower,STARS, swallows! its just a popular tattto that has alot meaning behind it.!
(www.divingswallow.com and click on marie wadman) so i have plenty of time to draw it out myself.. i am an artist and have some of my own work tattooed onto other peopel already, its very rewarding. anyways so i have plenty of time to think it out! and draw it out. im certin i want this piece. where shoudl i get it?
shoulder blade(which side)? upper back int he middle? or downt he side on my rib cage.
this will be my first tattoo
and a meaningful one at that... i know i heard the side (ribcage) is painful but im pretty sure i can suck it up and deal with it since it will be on me for the rest of my life..... i wsa thinking about gettign it done in black and whte with some color here and there.. i have to draw it out and see though
please dont tell me roses are over done! this tattoo is for ME and i dont give a sh!t what people think about it!
so please go waste your stupidity elsewhere!!!!
and thank you to all who answer nicely =]
if i get it down along my side will it stretch or disrotrt if i ever were to get pregnant (im not planning on having and children ever!) lol but if something did happen or i change my mind and i have a large tattoo going down my side would it look distorted?? during//after a pregnancy ?
so there would only be 3 flowers alltogther. i want a lady bug on a rose leaf to symbolize good luck and my love for the environment (lol poepl call me a tree hugger sometimes ) .....
the tattoo would look amazing! her florals are goregous take a look!
im 19 years old! and i dont reallyt care what peopel think. im just tired of people answering my questions with stupidity. and also bothers me when other people as questions about tattoos and every says 'their gross, why do you want that for yourself"
i do have a high tolerance for pain... i dislocated my knee and didnt cry. it didnt even really hirt just felt weird haha. but my cartilage piercings hurt me! (i have 9 piercings all together)
im just tired of peopel commenting abotu how many tattoos are "overdone' and the dreaded "tramp stamp" im tired if ignoratnt people coming on here and ruining mine and other peoples posts with their ignorance...
Here's the deal - if you were to name your first born son Michael, for instance, it shouldn't matter that it is a very "common" name and there are soooo many "Michaels" out there now, etc. Who would tell you that? Additionally, what if the name selection also carried special meaning like after the baby's grandfather, maybe?
I smiled when I read your rose was commemorating your grandmother. I actually have a rose tattooed onto my ankle that was drawn from my grandmother's rose bush that she had for 50 years and would give everyone cuttings of. I have that rose bush still to this day so add another 25 years to it for my personal cutting she gave me. That tattoo is very important to me, so it is NOT just a rose.
Regarding the placement. I think it will come to you better once the artwork is done. Sometimes things don't look right depending on body structure, muscle movement, etc. Once it is finished, I would ask your artist for suggestions and try it out with the stencil. Just like the design came to you and you are sure of it, so will its placement.
Thomas asks…
How to fix a tattoo of my son's name? What sort of design to put around it?
I got a tattoo of my son's name going vertically down my forearm, unfortunately that was a big mistake! I should have gotten it done horizontally on my upper arm. And I am not crazy about the guy's cursive, I really had calligraphic writing in mind but I'm stuck with it now.
So, the question is, how to make it LOOK better? I was thinking getting some sort of design around the tattoo so it doesn't look so much like a prison tattoo or like I wrote on my own arm with a sharpie. I don't want girly girl crap like hearts and unicorns, but I was thinking of putting a green thorny rosevine through the name and having roses drawn around it or something.
Any ideas?
admin answers:
Well first off I would say is there a way to improve what was done? If its spaced enough could you have a GOOD artist (one you research this time) possibly enlarge the lines and clean them up where its needed?
As far as additional work the rose vine is a very good idea. It's a little cliché to be sure but it will definitely hide imperfections. You can also try barbwire. If your very into electronics you could even do something a little more original and use RCA wires or speaker wire.
William asks…
Any artists care to draw a rough sketch for free?
I've got an idea for a simple yet slightly complex tattoo that I want drawn up but I know not anyone with drawing abilities. If you're up to the challenge and wouldnt mind helping me out I'd love some drawings of my idea. The whole idea is that I want to have a tombstone with the words "Tosi Rakastaa" on it as if it was the name and I want a tree to the left of it with a heart dangling down like on the cover of The Used's "In Love And Death" and to the right of the tombstone a boy reaching up to grab the heart. Then maybe a night sky in the back with some stars and moon and in front of the tombstone a few roses scattered and maybe kind of criss crossing. Tosi Rakastaa means true love and it was a thing between me and my ex and I just want a reminder of what we had even if its dead now. If you wouldnt mind drawing that and sending it to me so I can get an idea of how itll look then thatd be great. Id also like opinions on the idea itself. Thanks. PS- email me if youll draw it for me.
admin answers:
So you want starving artist to continue to starve? Why don't you pay the design artist and ask the tattoo artist to work for free?
John asks…
im not very good at drawing, but do i still have a chance at becoming a tattoo artist?
im almost 16 and i love tattoos and have wanted to become one for a few years now. ive got 2 tattoos and a half sleeve currently. i practice drawing, im taking art and health classes in high school, etc but im still not extremely good at freehanded drawing. i mean i can do shading and other techinques to make things look cool or realistic but if you were to ask me to draw say a rose, or a dragon or a car freehanded, theres no way in hell i could do it.
therefore, i dont really have a portfolio yet. what could i do to get better, or could i be an artist that mainly uses stencils, or already drawn out images? can i get an appenticeship and have the artist teach me how to draw better? (wait, id have to have a portfolio of work to even get that..)
you see my dilemma? can any shop owner or tattoo artist give me some advice. i really am serious about wanting to become an artist. and how old do i have to be to get an appenticeship?
i got my tattoos at a shop in indiana. its legal there.
admin answers:
You have to be an awesome artist to be a tattoo artist. Practice practice practice.
admin answers:
This is surely a tougher way to find out these answers than it would be to simply read this short play.
If you want to read it, you can find it at http://www.enotes.com ...where you put 'Shakespeare at enotes' (without quote marks) in the search box. Then look for "read Shakespeare's plays" if you see the 'home' page on Shakespeare, in grayish-blue, small print: that's a link to his plays.
If you just see a list of his plays right away, use the grayish-blue link to 'Romeo and Juliet' and look at the right to find a 'side-by-side' text, so you can read both the original and the way it's said now, 'regular' English for easier reading...
But okay, if you trust my memory... Am not going to read this play again since I've done so a great many times:
[ADD: Okay, I went myself to enotes (again) and checked all these things; am a member there and that makes it easier, though I read very quickly and only see two changes]:
1. True
[ADD: Your first answerer is right in that, though Juliet tells mom she'll 'look at Paris,' Juliet has NO 'intention to like him.' So it's false.]
2. True, everyone wore masks, it was a masked ball
3. True, and called Romeo a coward as well
4. ADD: false; Benvolio tries to say it was all his own fault
...
1. A. Death
2. Think it's d. Smoke made w/the fume of sighs... Doesn't sound right, not at all like Shakespeare...
3. A. Juliet's nurse
4. C. Begs them to stop
5. ADD: It's a. Though Juliet says "a serpent's heart" rather than an "evil heart"..."hid by a beautiful face."
It's now my least favorite of all Shakespeare's plays. Juliet, Romeo, Nurse, parents, friends and Friar all are extremely foolish in this play. Pfft.
George asks…
Why do people answer religious questions with a non-religious answer?
CrG wrote 'How limited is your understanding. I wish I had the inclination and the strength to answer all of your petty objections. Everything you quote is true. Your conclusions are false. Read what Isaiah says about Jesus.
Where in Isaiah should this guy look? And if you're so sure his conclusions are false then you have a religious obligation to say more than you did. And if his conclusions are wrong according to you then are any conclusions he draws, from reading Isaiah, after you suggested it, be wrong?
If you answer a question in the capacity of Christian, do so with authority...don't put your foot in your mouth!
I agree with most of what MuslimRose~Amir wrote/concluded and can think of verses in the Bible that agree...OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD! The Book of Isaiah is 66 Chapters long and extremely controversial in many areas among some of the greatest and most revered scholars in the world. In the least, any argument should use one of them.
Oh! Wait! I Am Not A Christian. I gave that up a few years ago. I served it well for over 19 years though.
Mark 10:18-19 In the same breath Messiah continued to speak about the Law (Zec. 5:6 The ephah = the standard of perfection or moral ruler) cf. Gal. 3:24 The Law is our Teacher; I John. 3:4
John 5:30 Only by ASSUMING the Messiah was completely human can this verse be taken literally or figuratively! There is no in between. If Messiah can ever NOT do something then he is not all powerful, not God, and a HUMAN! "As I hear, I judge" Judge what? According to the Law. Messiah was a priest of the Temple. Many people don't know that. He taught in the Temple and Synagogues on a regular basis and was revered as a great teacher of Jews! Only a Jew learned in the Law, and a lover of the Law could EVER get respect among such a viciously religious community. "and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of my Father." The ultimate existence of any human (INCLUDING MESSIAH) is Ecc. 12:13...to observe the Law
I will pay you $10,000 to show me a verse in the Bible(KJV) or (BOY) that says:
1.do not keep the law
2. do not try to keep the law
3. no human can keep the law
4. Messiah was not human
John 14:31 Messiah never did anything contrary to Yahweh's will/plan/ or law! There is no Biblical argument against this!...did you know there is a Law, of the 613 Laws as prescribed by Moses (Mosheh) that commands us not to add to nor take away from the Law?(Deut. 4:2) or that Messiah said the Law would always be here and that he came here to magnify it? (Matt. 5:17-20) "till heaven and earth pass away?" Only advocates of Satan and the Beastly Governmental System believe that we don't need the Law because there is no commandment contrary to the many, MANY commandments to keep, observe, love, and study the Law. and...Matt 5:5 says the meek will inherit the earth! So the earth will never be destroyed...and neither will the Law!
John 14:10 Only easy to get Rose's conclusion if we continue on the foundation that Messiah was human, and not part of the Trinity, or somehow God. Anyone who is 'close' to their higher power would say this! I am in Him, and He is in me. Does that mean they are members of the same Trinity? I wonder how most Christians can believe in the Doctrine of the Trinity when it is not taught in Scripture? For Messiah to claim that Yahweh was 'in him' he would have to prove a few things:
1. that he was free from sin (I John 3:6)
2. that he kept the Law in order to fulfill the prophecies concerning himself, namely the Laws of the Priesthood and the office of High Priest. There are clear examples of specific Laws being kept by Messiah's parents in just the first two chapters of Luke (ie. circumcision on the 8th day, name by the Law, Luke 2:22=Lev. 12:2-5, Luke 2:23=Lev. 27.2,8,25, Luke 2:24=Ex.34:19-20, Luke 2:41-42=Ex.23:14-17....These are less than half of the Laws kept in these two chapters. Positive Laws 215,114,52, etc.
sin = I John 3:4 = breaking the Law
I John 5:2 "by this we know that we love the children of Yahweh: When we love Yahweh BY KEEPING HIS LAW..."
Philippians 2:6 KJV and Thayer's Greek Lexicon
(being) to begin below
(form) external appearance, fig. cf. Gen. 1:26 and Ex. 34:6-7 (this is
the image of Yahweh)
(not) no, not; in direct questions expecting an
affirmative answer
(robbery) a thing to be seized upon or to be held fast, retained
Phil. 2:6 Who, created, like Yahweh, would usurp equality of Yahweh?!
The answer is NO ONE BUT...
Satan! Isa. 14:13
Every Christian should read, The Two Babylons, http://www.jesus-is-lord.com/babylons/default.htm by Rev. Alexander Hislop
I cannot believe I am even going to mention Mat 24:36 but here goes...
Yahshua Messiah said that no man knows that day nor hour... let me rephrase that portion of the verse for easier understanding...people do not understand sin, what it is, why it is, and fewer people think that
the air i breath...something that does exist even though it cannot be seen, has been proven to exist by modern science
What is "Biological Citizenship"?
What is an easy to understand definition of biological citizenship? (Mostly according to Nikolas Rose's writings - which I find long and drawn out ... )
And, if possible, please also tell me how building geriatric prisons is related to biological citizenship?
admin answers:
A new kind of citizenship is taking shape in the age of biomedicine, biotechnology
and genomics. We term this ‘biological citizenship’.1 Since Marshall’s (1950)
classic essay it is conventional to think of a kind of evolution of citizenship since the
eighteenth century in Europe, North America and Australia: the civil rights granted in
the eighteenth century necessitated the extension of political citizenship in the
nineteenth century and of social citizenship in the twentieth century.2 This
perspective is useful, to the extent that it breaks with political-philosophical
considerations of citizenship and locates citizenship within the political history of
‘citizenship projects’. By citizenship projects, we mean the ways that authorities
thought about (some) individuals as potential citizens, and the ways they tried to act
upon them. For example: defining those who were entitled to participate in the
political affairs
Questions About How To Draw A Rose Step By Step
Sandy asks…
Rose's life after Titanic...?
How do you think the rest of Rose's life went after Titanic? This is my story:
- Rose steps off the Carpathia, in a slightly out-of-earth state. She had just been set free, but her true love had died.
- She gets helped from some charity funds, but she decides to become self-suffieient and live her life to the full as Jack had told her to. She sets out on making money by painting in the street. She draws realist pictures. She used to love the new cubist movement because she was full of illogical dreams. Now these illogical dreams have become reality.
- She eventually meets a man from a theater band. She joins and discovers she is a good actress and has star power (remember Jack's "Nickelodeon" comment before the dinner on Titanic).
- During the First World War she takes some men's jobs and helps prove women's rights and abilities. She joins in with the feminist movement.
- Eventually the Hollywood film industry kicks off, and Rose becomes a cinema actress, gaining some money. She meets a man at a speakeasy in the 20's while illegally drinking and wearing a flapper dress like the rebel she is, a man called Robert, and they date.
- She eventually quits acting in 1927 and marries Robert. She has two sons with him, one in the mid-30's, one towards the end of World War II.
- Her younger son eventually becomes a teen greaser in the late 50's and joins the counter-culture movement in the 60's. He turns out to be gay and joins the gay pride march in New York, 1965.
- Her older son has a daughter in 1965, Lizzie.
In her lifetime, Rose had done the things she had talked about with Jack, plus a lot more.
What is your story?
admin answers:
Quite an imagination there. I'd start from what we know, which is that she's 17, her passions are horseback riding, yachting, and flying airplanes (from the photographs) as well as a signed portrait of herself meaning she becomes an actress. And we know she has children because of her granddaughter. I'd assume she was a theatre actress because in those days they were popular. And being brought up in the lifestyle that she was, it wouldn't have been as difficult for her to be hired as an actress. They had scouts. So I'd say how she got introduced to her husband would be on the theatre set, as she auditions for a minor role. The man perhaps playing a major role in the play. They having a scene together, and he being taken in by her elegancy/beauty when he sees her for that first time. She being taken in by his charm. They fall in love, but don't get married until she's twenty-six. He perhaps having eleven years on her, so thirty-seven. By then she being cast in major roles opposite her husband. Maybe have three kids, two boys and a girl. During her early years of marriage, she puts her career on hold. During that time, she does the things she tells Jack she'd do, like go horseback riding on the beach, she goes to the Santa Monica Pier, she flies an airplane, of which she meets a young Howard Hughes. Her kids are well looked after by a nanny. However the great depression hits hard. The family manage to get by thanks to her husband. However, she loses her daughter to a fever. As her sons are now old enough to go to college, she gets back to her career as an actress, only this time turning to radio. She becomes a star, and when World War II strikes, she is asked to perform in front of the men when they're on leave. One of her sons gets injured early, aided by a nurse he falls in love with. The other serves out the war, only it changes him. He becomes estranged from his family, turns into an addict (heroin), becomes abusive to his wife, and dies of an overdose, with no children. Lizzy has a good upbringing, and as the only grandchild, Rose spoils her. Lizzy's mother divorces her father when Lizzy is just a baby and elopes with someone else, and her father moves back home to Rose. Rose's husband dies of natural causes. Rose retires in the late sixties, where she looks after Lizzy as her own.
Then again, this is more my vision on the spot.
Chris asks…
Is the start of my story good? Please critique!?
This is the start of a short story I'm working on. I was thinking of entering it in a writing contest, but was wondering if it is any good and should continue with it. Please point out any grammar/spelling mistakes you find and tell me what you think. Thanks!
A woman, clothed in a red and gold dress, sat in a cave alone. Her head was held high, poised like a snake ready to strike. A faint smile could be seen on her chapped lips as she watched the entrance with unmoving eyes.
“I await your arrival, hero,” she spoke softly. “I know you will find me, blade drawn, but not eager for blood. For it is not in your heart to kill, no matter who it is.”
She rose and walked to the entrance of the cave, gazing out at the lush forests that lay before her. “It is sad, that this all used to belong to me, hero. It was all my land; my kingdom. But now, war has engulfed this land, and you dare to pin the blame on me. It was not I, who started this civil war, but you, foolish hero. I was not the one who planted the seeds of rebel in my neighbors head. I was not the one who rallied the rebels against their queen. It was you, hero. You claim you want to save this land, but you were the one who brought the turmoil upon this land.”
The woman stared at the setting sun before turning back into the cave. From the distance the cries of horns could be heard. “I have heard this song many times, and I am glad to say that it will be my last.”
She returned to where she had been sitting and resumed her position. She closed her eyes and hummed softly to the elegant tune. “Such a beautiful song for one so foul,” she said once the song had ended. “You draw closer with each step, hero. When you reach the base of this hill, you will show your troops how brave you are by entering my home alone. When you reach the entrance, you will unsheathe your blade and confront me. When you confront me, you will list all my heinous deeds with disgust. When you are finished listing my acts, you will offer me a choice of life or death. If I choose life, I will have spared you act of murder. If I choose death, there will be blood on your hands.”
Thanks, I wish I was smart, though. Unfortunately, that voice only comes out when I write.
admin answers:
This is really verrrry gud.
But i think the problem is that u have repeated words. Like land, hero etc..esp. In the next line itself
umm i cant explain it better but iv edited ur lines a bit 2 get my point thru,
“It is sad, that this all used to belong to me, hero. It was all my land; my kingdom. But now, War has engulfed *it*(instd of this land), and you dare pin the blame on me. It was not I, who started (all) this, but you, foolish hero. I was not the one who planted the seeds of rebel in my neighbors heads and rallied *them/everyone/my ppl*( instead of the word rebel) against their queen. It was you, my foe/friend (dont use hero agn). And you claim you want to save this land? Alas you are the one who has brought turmoil upon it.”
sorry umm i couldnt think f any other way to explain it. This is just an eg.
Just alter the lines a bit n ur set!
Def submit this story..it sounds great :)
admin answers:
I think you write great dialogue and it does what it is supposed to do, i want to know who this woman is and what's her and the hero's story. Keep it up.
To be honest, i think the bits in between could use a little work. If i may, i'll give you an example: This is for the start; 'Deep in the mountains, within a lonely cave she sat and waited. Clad in a cascade of red and gold, poised, regal, ready for the strike which was sure to come. Her eyes were fixated on the entrance to her lair and the faint smile that played across her chapped lips never reached those pools of intensity for an instant'. Sorry if your story is not set in a mountain but you've got my imagination going now.
Back to a positive though. I love the way that it was only when i was nearing the end of your passage, i realized that she wasn't actually talking to anyone entering the cave, but foretelling some sort of battle to come. Kinda takes the reader by surprise and that is always a good thing.
So, good stuff. Hope you finish it and hope this helped :)
Linda asks…
How is your confident in Jesus as Ruler enhanced by reflecting on his earthy experiences?
(Hebrews 2:17-18) . . .Consequently he was obliged to become like his “brothers” in all respects, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, in order to offer propitiatory sacrifice for the sins of the people. For in that he himself has suffered when being put to the test, he is able to come to the aid of those who are being put to the test.
(Mark 5:22-24) Now one of the presiding officers of the synagogue, Ja′i‧rus by name, came and, on catching sight of him, he fell at his feet and entreated him many times, saying: “My little daughter is in an extreme condition. Would you please come and put your hands upon her that she may get well and live.” At that he went off with him. And a great crowd was following him and pressing against him.
(Mark 5:38-42) So they came to the house of the presiding officer of the synagogue, and he beheld the noisy confusion and those weeping and letting out many wails, and, after stepping in, he said to them: “Why are YOU causing noisy confusion and weeping? The young child has not died, but is sleeping.” At this they began to laugh scornfully at him. But, having put them all out, he took along the young child’s father and mother and those with him, and he went in where the young child was. And, taking the hand of the young child, he said to her: “Tal′i‧tha cu′mi,” which, translated, means: “Maiden, I say to you, Get up!” And immediately the maiden rose and began walking, for she was twelve years old. And at once they were beside themselves with great ecstasy.
(Mark 10:14-16) At seeing this Jesus was indignant and said to them: “Let the young children come to me; do not try to stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to suchlike ones. Truly I say to YOU, Whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a young child will by no means enter into it.” And he took the children into his arms and began blessing them, laying his hands upon them.
(John 5:40-42) And yet YOU do not want to come to me that YOU may have life. I do not accept glory from men, but I well know that YOU do not have the love of God in YOU.
(John 11:47-53) Consequently the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered the San′he‧drin together and began to say: “What are we to do, because this man performs many signs? f we let him alone this way, they will all put faith in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.” But a certain one of them, Ca′ia‧phas, who was high priest that year, said to them: “YOU do not know anything at all, and YOU do not reason out that it is to YOUR benefit for one man to die in behalf of the people and not for the whole nation to be destroyed.” This, though, he did not say of his own originality; but because he was high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was destined to die for the nation, and not for the nation only, but in order that the children of God who are scattered about he might also gather together in one. Therefore from that day on they took counsel to kill him.
The meek and spiritually hungry were also drawn to him. On the other hand, the proud, the arrogant, and those who did not have the love of God in them rejected, hated, and opposed Jesus. Even whilst Jesus is ruling in heaven some are still following a wicked course under the rule of Satan the god of this world.
admin answers:
We know that we are in the safest hands possible, because he lived here with us he knows our in's and out's, he has first hand experience of how things are on earth.
I trust him to the very end of time knowing this, I would rather have some body who knows how to do the job rather than some body who does not, Jesus knows what he is doing and in this we can trust.
Questions About How To Draw A Rose
Thomas asks…
How to draw a perfect rose?
I want to draw a nice pencil drawn rose but how?
admin answers:
Don't look for a trick or a plan which takes the uniqueness of the rose out of it. Get a real rose. Place it on the table with a strong light coming from one direction. Examine the rose for a long time. What part is in darkness, what part in light? What about the texture of the rose petals? You can reproduce that texture by working with the contour lines which separate the rose from the background and the other textures around it. Also reproduced by recreating the highlights and the shadows. Draw what you see, not what you know. Let your eyes dictate the information. Let your hand follow that dictation. Use the medium to its utmost ability.
