Questions About How To Answer Interview Questions About Conflict

Mandy asks…

How would you answer these interview questions?

1. You are giving a presentation and an audience member is continually interrupting, causing you to get off topic. What would you do?

2. If you had met your project deadlines and your direct supervisor was unavailable, describe how you would remain busy

3. You are the manager of a small software testing team, and one individual is often late for work and taking extended breaks. How would you approach the issue?

4. You plan a workshop to teach newcomers to Canada how to use word-processing software. Unfortunately, only four people have registered and you are required to have a class of ten. You really feel that the training is important but are worried about the financial consequences. It is five days before the class is scheduled to begin. What do you do?

5. You have a conflict with someone who is senior to you and is not your supervisor. Describe how you would handle it

admin answers:

For #1 - I reply to their interuptions with a simple answer like saying yea or ohh etc. And then quickly continue my topic
and if they interupt too much i then ask everyone to hold thier thoughts until the end of the presentations so that we can all discuss everything together

Interview Question - conflict resolution at work?

I'm not always certain on how to answer this question, can someone shed some light on how you answer it? So I can get my own scenario, on how I used conflict resolution.

Question:
Tell me about a time you had to use conflict resolution at work?

admin answers:

Employers simply want to know that you can resolve conflict in a reasonable, constructive manner. After all, we all encounter conflict at work. Bad answers include 1) denying that it ever happens, 2) describing an inappropriate reaction like punching someone, or 3) unrealistically pretending that the conflict ended with everyone happy and best friends. So, a good answer might start with "while I prefer to get along with my coworkers, I'm not at work to be friends with everyone, and some conflict is inevitable." Then describe a situation, real or at least feasible. Stress that through communication you were able to at least achieve a reasonable compromise -- give and take.

Good luck!

Carol asks…

job interview question: conflict with a previous co-worker?

what is good answer to this question? "tell me about a personal conflict that arose on the job and how you resolved it."

I am stumped how to answer; I have never had a problem at work so large that it needed resolving--no one is going to believe that, and even if they did it will come across like i'm some sort of idiot. How might you answer this question?

admin answers:

So you don't want to answer the question honestly huh? You want to show your employer right off the bat that you are a lier, correct? If you never had a personal conflict why don't you answer it like this: "I am a very friendly and outgoing person so I can not remember when i have ever had a conflict with fellow employees." Job interviewers are also testing your honesty so go ahead and lie. You won't get hired.

John asks…

How would you answer either or both of these two job interview questions?

1. You plan a workshop to teach newcomers to Canada how to use word-processing software. Unfortunately, only four people have registered and you are required to have a class of ten. You really feel that the training is important but are worried about the financial consequences. It is five days before the class is scheduled to begin. What do you do?

2. You have a conflict with someone who is senior to you and is not your supervisor. Describe how you would handle it

admin answers:

1. I would have the classes anyways. I would try to teach them the best way I can.

2. I would probably try to look at things from their point of view, and would try to solve the problems.
