Questions About How To Install Minecraft Mods Windows 7

Ruth asks…

is there an easy way to install SDK's minecraft mod on windows 7?

i can't figure out how to install the mod reading the instructions and every install video i find is for windows XP or Vista

admin answers:

I take it you mean this mod: http://www.minecraftdl.com/sdk-guns-mod-1-6-5-client/

There is an easy way to install mods for Minecraft and i will list the steps here:

1) Download the Patcher from here http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/232701-181-19pre6update-1030-mcpatcher-hd-fix-221/

2) Download the SDK Mods here:http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/86765-181-sdks-mods-v1-finally-updated/ If you want just the guns: http://www.mediafire.com/?2gl2piqqmekyb5v
[[[DON'T EXTRACT THE FILE!!]]]

3) Load the MCPatcher

4) Make sure the "Output" box displays the location of your minecraft.jar file

5) Press 'Mods' -> 'Add'

6) In the browser that appears, find where you downloaded the zip file and click it. Press 'Open'

7) In the next window, make sure the minecraft folder is selected and press 'OK'

8) The next window should look like this: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/832/ev1i.png/

9) Press 'OK'

10) Click 'Patch'

11) Press 'Test Minecraft' and see if the mod is working.

Side-note: MCPatcher also allows you to use HD texture packs automatically!

how to install minecraft mods?

i JUST started playing mineraft and i looked everywhere and tried like 3 diffrent types of downloading but i can't get it!! my comp is a windows 7 and im on minecraft 1.7.3!! i need HELP. something step by step and dumbed down preferably as simple as possable

admin answers:

How to install mods:

1. Download WinRAR, WinZIP, or 7Zip. (search for them in google)

2. Download Risugami's "Mod Loader", found here http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/75440-v173-risugamis-mods-recipe-book-updated/

3. Download the desired mod.

4. Open the Start menu on your desktop. In the search bar type in %appdata%. A folder should be displayed, titled "Roaming" When the correct folder shows up on the display, open it (At this point you may want to back up your ".minecraft" folder by selecting, right-clicking on and then selecting the "Add to Archive" option [I use WinRAR]). After that one is open, open the ".minecraft" folder.

5. Once the ".minecraft" folder is open, select and open the "bin" folder.

6. Once this is open, you'll find your "minecraft.jar" files. Here I usually find two, "minecraft.jar" and "minecraft-1.7.3.jar". The file you want to use is the "minecraft.jar". Right-click it and open it with WinRAR.

7. Once here, locate and delete the "META-INF", AND ONLY THIS FOLDER.

8. Next open the "ModLoader" and the desired mod in WinRAR.

9. Copy all ".class" files over from the open "ModLoader" in WinRAR, to the open ".minecraft" file in the seperate WinRAR window.

10. Repeat step number 9, for the desired mod that you opened in WinRAR.

11. Close all windows, open your minecraft launcher and see if the mod has been properly installed.

If the mod hasn't been properly installed and causes issues with your game, then erase the ".minecraft" file you tampered with and extract the back-up you made. Re-open your minecraft launcher and force it to update itself. This will allow it to re-download all necessary files. After you can try again. Also I am not responsible for any damages to the game or computer that occur during the installation process.

Best of luck my friend. If you need anything else find me on my youtube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/dakjhnsn
I'll take questions and such there.
Enjoy.

how to install ModLoader for minecraft?

basically, i would like to explore a few mods for minecraft (mainly the plane mod and millienaire) but i need to install ModLoader. i have tried to intall it a few times to no avail. can anyone help me? i just cant figure out where to put the modloader files. (by the way, i have a Windows 7 PC, if it helps)

admin answers:

First, download winrar. Second close minecraft. Press the windows logo button and r at the same time, or go to start and search for run. A little window pops up, type in %APPDATA%, (include % symbols). Find folder called .minecraft, open it. Open the bin. Find the file called MineCraft.jar ( if there is no .jar at the end of the name that is fine, just depends on your settings. ) right click it, select open with, select winrar. Drag all the files From the mOdloader zip file into the minecraft.jar . Then, in the minecraft. Jar, find the folder called META-INF. Delete it. Now run mineraft. If it doesn't load, close it. Check you did all these steps. If all else fails, launch minecraft , and before you log in, click options. Click force update. Login. Try again.

Ken asks…

How can I get the minecraft modloader to work?!?

First off, yes, I have deleted that folder from minecraft.jar, yes, everything's up to date, and yes I followed the instructions! I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, but when I try and install mod loader, I just get a blank screen instead of the menu, help on this would be great! I use windows 7 if that helps at all.

admin answers:

Okay. You already have WinRAR or something else to open Minecraft.jar with, so thats done. Make sure that you deleted the folder labeled META-INF. Then, you OPEN the ModLoader folder. Open the other folder inside that and drag all the files straight into Minecraft.jar. Then just to be safe (this is what I did because my friend told me to, I don't know if it's required or not but do it anyway) drag the folder you took the files out of into Minecraft.jar too. You'll need to do this with every mod you download and whenever you update minecraft: delete META-INF, drag all the CLASS files from the mod folder as well as the folders themselves into minecraft.jar, and you're done. If all else fails, look it up on YouTube!
BY THE WAY! After you update Minecraft, DON'T OPEN ANY WORLDS until you reinstall the updated version of the mods and ModLoaders. This will either crash your game, delete your objects you got from the mod, or both. It's a total pain, but most mods are worth the hassle.
