Donald asks…
how do you bake pumpkin seeds? (like, how long do you bake them and do you put salt on them?)?
my parents are from another country and I told my mom that people here sometimes bake pumpkin seeds and she asked me to find out how long you bake them for and then she said she would happily bake seeds for our family.
thanks in advance! :-)

BAKED PUMPKIN SEEDS - HALLOWEEN
Wash pumpkin seeds.
Spread light layer of shortening onto cookie sheet. Put seeds on cookie sheet and sprinkle with salt and melted butter. Bake at 250 degrees for about 1 1/2 hours or until brown. You may want to turn over and stir once or twice and add more salt or butter during baking.

How do you bake pumpkin seeds?
I know you bake them, but do you have to add butter, sugar, or anything to the pumpkin seeds before doing so?

Ingredients:
- Pumpkin Seeds
- Olive Oil
Optional Ingredients:
- Salt
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Seasoned salt or other seasoning of choice.
Directions:
1. Wash pumpkin seeds off the night before to remove any pulp or pieces of pumpkin. For extra salty seeds, soak seeds overnight in a solution of ¼ cup salt to 2 cups water. Drain seeds and let dry on a cookie sheet over night.
2. Preheat oven to 275 degrees.
3. Line a cookie sheet with non-stick foil.
4. Toss pumpkin seeds with olive oil and sprinkle with desired seasoning until all seeds have been coated.
5. Bake for about 1 hour, tossing every 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
6. Cool pumpkin seeds before eating and store leftovers in airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 months or refrigerate for up to 1 year.
I found this recipe last year and I will never use another one! We like ours just lightly salted, but I might try a batch this year with garlic salt!

If you like sweet stuff, then you're sure to love these. It's my personal favorite recipe for pumpkin seeds...
***Spiced Pumpkin Seeds***
1 cup raw pumpkin seeds, rinsed and dried
6 tablespoons white sugar, divided
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C). Spread pumpkin seeds in a single layer on a baking sheet. Toast for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until dry and toasted. Larger seeds may take longer.
In a large bowl, stir together 2 tablespoons of white sugar, salt, and pumpkin pie spice. Set aside. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pumpkin seeds and sprinkle the remaining sugar over them. Stir with a wooden spoon until the sugar melts, about 45 seconds. Pour seeds into the bowl with the spiced sugar and stir until coated. Allow to cool before serving. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
Chris asks…
How to Bake Pumpkin seeds?
Do I rinse the seeds?
Do I use oil? what kind?
Oven temp? how long?
admin answers:
You should rinse the seeds and while their wet add a little bit of salt evenly. You don't really need oil. If, you wanted them to be more moist you could try putting a little, tiny, bit of veggie oil on them.
Once you prepared them put them on a cookie sheet and bake them on 350 for, about, 10-12min. They don't take very long so always keep an eye on them!
