Questions About How To Install Minecraft Mods On Windows

David asks…

Having trouble installing mods to minecraft?

I was playing minecraft on my windows XP computer, when i decided to try out some mods. I searched up instructions on how to install mods when i realized that I didn't have any of the extra files. all I had was a single file called "minecraft" and i couldn't do anything with it but play the game. When i first installed the game, it just downloaded onto my computer in a couple of seconds without any other screen or the option to save. Is the problem that when i installed the game, i didn't WINRAR because I still don't and can't find any way to add mods or texture packs.

admin answers:

Mods are installed in .minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar. Use 7zip to open the .jar drag the files into minecraft.jar and delete metainf. Some mods require other things such as the flying mod requires a folder be placed where bin is.

Load 7zip and extract the files there then cop it to your minecraft ppage the open the file and use the controls listed below:

After editing, command is not deleted, merely disabled.
Compile cmd [SuperOP] - Compiles the custom command file "Cmd.cs" from Blocks that are considered transparent include leaves, glass, air, and their corresponding complex blocks.
Fly [Guest+] - Toggle: enables flying by placing a 5x5x2 glass block beneath player's feet, which moves to follow the player.
The glass block is invisible and intangible to other players.
It will only appear in place of regular air, and does not affect any blocks.
Follow [#] [OP+] - Toggle: hides, then follows . Appears jittery, unless fly is on. Then it works fine.
Typing # will follow without hiding.
Freeze [OP+] - Toggle: freezes so they cannot move. Appears jittery, but does the job.
Give (shortcut = gib) [SuperOP] - Gives of money.
Goto (shortcut = g) [Guest+] - Goes to the specified map.
Map must be loaded unless the "Load on /goto" setting is enabled.

Jenny asks…

Minecraft problem? help please?

well i installed minecraft on ubunto cause for some bizarre reason it just wouldnt work on windows,

so i tried to play multi player but it just ends up crashing, then on single player it was fine so i thought id download a few mods to make it more fun and it was great but then i downloaded Humans plus
and my frame rate was terrible and it crashed after an hour or so...
so i read up online on how to remove the mod and it says "delete bin, then force update and bin will come back, and it will work" yeah well i did and i forced update but still no bin so i manually got the bin back with mods and all but when i log in, under play offline it says not downloaded,
and i dont know what to do should i just uninstall? if so how lol ive never had to uninstall minecraft before.

admin answers:

You can go to My Computer and search in the box %appdata% and then you will see a file called .Minecraft you can delete that file and then re-download minecraft also you should back up your worlds if your going to do that
