I just love it sooo much..
Az Yet - Last Night Lyrics
Last night, you were so into it
You told me secrets that
You never told a soul
You were so nervous and
Yet oh so comfortable
As we explored your image of love
I drank your wine as you taste mine
I kissed your lips you felt my body slip
Into your soul
I almost cried cuz it was so beautiful
[chorus:]
Last Night I was inside of you
Last Night while making love to you
I saw the sun, the moon, the mountains and the rivers
I saw heaven when I made sweet love to you
Last night there was no planning it
It was so special
And so very innocent
We talked of memories
Our favorite fantasies
As we explored our visions of love
Deep in the night
Right by the fireside
You felt my candlelight in your soul
You felt incredible
I started to explode
I almost cried cuz it was so beautiful
[chorus]
Sunlight, red roses
The scent of you it calms the heart
The sight of you I fall apart
Moonlight, the things we noticed
Oh we're in love
That's when it comes
and I'm so, I'm so in love

Linda asks…
Is illmatic overrated?
Ok, I'm a 16 year old female lol. I love Hip-Hop. Recently my uncle has been putting me on all the old classic albums. He told me to cop Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt, Ready to Die, and The Adventures of Slick Rick. So I downloaded them all. OMG! I absolutely loved Ready to Die the first time I listened to it. The intro was so interesting, the first song "back in the day" grabbed your attention. "Gimmie the loot" painted a picture of Biggie hanging out in Brooklyn planning Heist. "Warning" uggle was amazing, and Everyday struggle was just Epic, from the beat to the lyrics of a hopeless Biggie trying to find his way. Respect's beat was just so modern I had to be sure I was listening to 90's hip hop. Then it ended with suicidal thoughts. The damn CD was a master piece, it was like a movie. Way ahead of it's time. 5 stars. I then listen to the adventures of slick rick. I love his voice, love his creativity, but all the scratching and instrumental isnt doing it for me. My favorite tracks were "hey young world" (5 stars) and "The rulers back." Still Overall I gave it 3.5 stars, it was still a great album and you very seldomley see it as #1 on a best of all-time list. I figured ok let's save the best for last, I have heard great things about Illmatic, It's always high on peoples lists, usually at number one, plus I love Most of Nas newer stuff. So I pop in Reasonable Doubt and am BLOWN AWAY! Don't get me wrong, I love Jay-z so it was no suprise, but still, man he is KILLING IT! Opens up with witty and clever bars in "can't knock the hustle." ie. "Through my periphial i see you scheming, stop dreaming, I'll leave your body steaming, niggas is feining, what's the meaning, I'm leanin on any nigga intervenin with the sound of my money machinein." Politics as usual hit me with a crazy sounding flow that I've never heard. Then Brooklyns finest came on. (How did I never hear this track before?) OMG I was addicted, Jay-z and Biggie on the same song going back and forth? I mean they were even rhyming with adlives Ie. Jay-z: "stay out my way from hear on" Big: "clear?" Jay-z "gone." Then Big starts busting lol. Plus the beat was just crazy. Every track was amazing, feeling it, dead presidents, D'evils, cashmere thoughts, and Can I live was lyrically INSANE! I was a into my life addicted to this CD and so happy my uncle brought it into my life lolz.
So Now I'm thinking "Ilmatic is about to blow my mind." lol. First I was disappointed to learn that it was only 10 tracks. But I thought man forget it yo homes to bel-air lol jk. I throw on the CD. The intro was weak when compared to Big's, I kept waiting for nas to rip it but he never did. So now I'm thinking "ok, 9 tracks." lol. Then NY. State of Mind comes on. Ahhh, not really feeling the beat but his bars are ok. he seems to be jumping from topic to topic. It all does tie into this general idea but it's not really a cohesive story. No witty bars or punchlines to keep me entertained. No real hook. Nice wordplay, but overall a disappointment. Life's a bitch was DOPE. I was thinking we're back on track. I loved AZ's verse but I loved Nas's even more. However, it was just one verse each? I was disappointed. I wanted to hear Nas kill that chill beat some more, oh well, next track. World is yours was awesome! But I already heard it on Tony Hawks Pro-Skater as a little kid lol. I still loved it though and it's easily my favorite track on the album. (reminds me of Hey young world by slick rick.) i didnt like halftime. The lyrics were decent, I liked the story in the second verse about him scared to grab the mic as a kid but now he's the man (lol he was so cute on his cover lol) the punchlines were kind of lame, the beat was really dull and the hook was repetitive (even for hip hop) and boring. i was disappointed again. The rest of the CD followed that pattern. He had his moments but overall the beats were just way too dull, the hooks were weak, and he never made me press rewind or "ohhhhh" at any of his bars. It was also extremely short! 9 tracks? I was literally mad. if I had written this directly after listening to Illmatic it would be 10 times worse. I dont see how people think this is the best hip hop album ever? Did I have to listen to it at the time? (1994) I listen critically so I'm sure it wasnt just "going over my head." What's so great about it? Personally I think the top ten songs from Stillmatic crush Illmatic. Better hooks, better concepts, better beats, and sometimes better overall lyrics. Am I alone? Or does anyone else feel like Illmatic is incredibally hyped and overrated?
So far we've seen the type of person who likes this album. One who is too lazy to read a paragraph LOL.

Maybe this is the wrong forum for you. I think you need a blog about hip hop. I'd definitely visit, because I like to drone on and on about NY hip hop as much as you do.
Like you, I didn't listen to Illmatic (1994, I think) when it first came out. I heard it for the first time about 5 or 6 years after it came out. One of the first rap albums I ever bought was Nas' second album, "It was written," which blew me away. Nas was the first "gangsta"-type rap album I bought.
When I went back and bought "Illmatic," I thought "It was written" was a much better album--more grown up, creative, broader range of topics, lyricism, everything. IWW was more of a mainstream album, but just cuz its mainstream doesn't mean its shitty.
At my middle school in this time period, '94/'95, everyone was obsessed with Wu Tang Clan, especially Method Man, or Biggie Smalls, and Nas was just another NY "gangsta" type rapper. The market was flooded with good music. Nas got really popular (I'm talking about white suburban kids, not serious hip hop fans) after his second album and he made that song with Lauren Hill from the Fugees, "If I ruled the World."
Listening now, I have a greater appreciation for Illmatic, but I still don't think its as great as people make it out to be. Especially on Yahoo Answers. I think just because Nas is a pretty good rapper who is still going strong, and his style then was just simple, raw, and good. No autotune, no R and B, no singing, not too many skits or story. Just rhyming. The opposite of hip hop today.
I don't think it was a bad album. But "the best album ever?" That is ridiculous, I agree. I could think of 25 albums off the top of my head that could be in running for the best, and "Illmatic" is not one of them.
BTW, I think Nas' best rhyming is a tiny little verse he did on Raekwon's Cuban Linx album on the song "Verbal Intercourse." I think I broke my car's CD player 15 years ago from repeating that track over and over.
Sandy asks…
Eminem doesn't write his own lyrics, Buy or Sell?
This question has always bothered me, which makes me doubt if any mainstream rappers write their own lyrics.
Look at Eminem's chronology, and his old school material. His flow is much different, his content is much different, and his style is much different. On his CD Infinite, he takes a more Nas / AZ approach and talks about subjects to do with Work / How he's a good MC / Love / Street stories.
Then in a short year he replicated Masta Ace's flow, changed his content to a more Horrorcore / Hardcore rap style with The Slim Shady EP.. and seemed to perfect it. It makes me wonder if he even wrote his own lyrics, because the shit he put on The Slim Shady EP isn't as good as most of the content on The Slim Shady LP, unless it's because SSLP took 2 years to produce, so he had a bunch of time to perfect his songs.
opinions?

Eminem does write his songs, and the only reason why he's changed is because he got money now and makes the type of music people want, mainstream is all about the money.
Betty asks…
how do you know if this is your bf's and your song?
My bf first asked me out by saying "you'll be the princess, I'll be the Prince, its a love story baby, just say yes?"
On Valentines he used it again to answer me to valentines dance, "I'll be the Prince, You'll be the Princess, its a love story baby and i say YES"
and before i left to go to az for the summer he wrote to me more lyrics from the song "Love Story" by Taylor Swift.
could this be our song?

Donald asks…
What does this song say about a guy that put this on his page?
its called every woman by az yet heres the lyrics:
Every woman needs her man
To hold her and
Protect her and
Tell her that she's beautiful
And how she feels, he understands
A man that will not leave her but
Will stand right by her side.
So before you go, just know that
Every woman needs...her man.
Her man...her man.
Help me say..
Every woman needs her man
To fight for her
Die for her
Someone who will take the time
To place his heart
Inside of her
A man that's not afraid to say
"I'm sorry" when he's wrong.
So before you walk away
Just let me say,
That lady needs her man.
Her man. (x7)
So remember to
Tell her that you love her
And that you
Place no one above her
And remind her
What we have will last...always
Oh, and tell her
Meant to be together
and that I
I will leave you never
And I promise
to stay with you forever
until my dying day
Oh
Every woman needs a man
Who'll be true
Who will say I do
Even when the skies are grey
He knows that God
Will bring them though.
A man who understands that love
It don't come everyday.
So before you go just know that
Every woman needs her man
Tell her that you love her
And that you
place no one above her
and remind her
what we have will last always
Always oh and tell her
Meant to be together
And tell her
I will leave you never
And I promise to
stay with you forever
until my dying day
So before you go just know
That every woman needs
So before you walk away,
Just let me say that lady needs
So before you go just know
That every woman needs her man.
Oh.
